Description
I have had these two great late 18th c. or early 19th c. Chinese Export cups for a long time. The first has a very elegant English look but given the thickness of the porcelain and the rough foot, I have concluded that it is Chinese Export. It features hand painted garlands, sprigs of flowers, gilded lines and beaded borders. It has a ribbed body and a fluted lip. Other than some wear to the gilding, I can find no damage on this beautiful cup. It is 2.5" tall and is 2 3/8" in diameter at the lip. The second cup is decorated with underglaze blue designs on a white background. The designs include pavilions, pagodas, boats, trees and a large baluster shaped urn containing a floral bouquet. It is virtually the same size as the first cup and similarly has a ribbed body and a fluted lip. It has two very small chips on the lip (see photo).Stock Number SAZ-135(2)
