Ice Rings work by increasing the effective cooling surface area of the motors by more than 4 times the original to extract heat effectively. Heat management testing has been carried out in a controlled environment giving amazing results to running temps and cooldown effect. After 20 minutes of constant load testing, the motor temperatures stabilized with the Ice Ring equipped motor having an 18 degree C difference compared to standard! Too good to be true? Precision machined in Dunedin New Zealand with 6061 aerospace grade aluminum. Ice Rings are machined to an “interference fit” meaning that they will not fit over your motors while at room temperature. Why you ask? If they were machined to a loose fit, the motors at operating temp would cause the Ice Rings to thermally expand and create an imbalanced. The design allows for a perfectly balanced rotating assembly. Remember, your motors are rotating super quick. Even the slightest imbalance will result in a vibration damaging your motor bearings followed shortly after by motor failure altogether.
6061 is the material of choice due to its;
*Thermal properties allowing the heat of the motors to effectively transfer.
*Durability and hardness allowing them to protect your motors and withstand the punishment of a hardcore rider.
*Anodizing properties which results in a very desirable gloss finish.
*High corrosion resistance.
