Description
Pottery Tile Trivet or Hot PlateA piece of utilitarian Art Pottery that celebrates Native American history and culture
Commemorates the creation of the first Native American alphabet.
Features the "Sequoyah Cherokee Alphabet" on the front in raised (embossed) lettering.
The back is embossed with "Intellectual Leader", "Teacher" and "Inventor" around the outer rim. In the center it reads, "Sequoyah created the first written Indian language. His syllabary, or alphabet, was declared official by the Cherokee council in 1825. First newspaper printed in Cherokee in 1828. His house still stands near Sallisaw, Okla."

Condition:
Very good condition. It has little felt protector circles on two of the circular feet. There is a third foot that does not have the felt. (see pictures).
