Colorful c1850 Chinese Export Porcelain Rose Mandarin Strap Handle Mug Cup
Presented is a lovely antique Chinese export porcelain mug or tankard style cup,
dating to around the 1840s-1860s. The cup is a large tall size, done in a
colorful Rose Mandarin pattern featuring scenes of traditionally garbed men and
women waiting on or perhaps petitioning a seated woman with elaborate hairstyle.
The background to this scene is very colorful and detailed with screens and
foliage, while the upper rim of the mug has an interesting border of winged
creatures, flowers, and curlicues, likewise all quite colorful and striking. The
handle of the mug is done in a crossed strap style, with gilt decoration where
it meets the body.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no
breaks, and no repairs.
The mug stands about 4 ¼ inches tall and measures about 4 1/8 inches from
handle to opposite side, or about 3 inches in diameter at the mouth.
